FRAME, (Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Research), is an organisation which believes that the current scale of animal experimentation is unacceptable, but recognises that the immediate abolition of all laboratory animal use is not possible. It advocates the three Rs (Replacement, Refinement, Reduction) approach to the problem.  Professor Michael Balls is a British Zoologist and professor emeritus of medical cell biology at Nottingham University. He is outspoken on his beliefs for the need to replace animals in medical research
