"[knockout mice] truly provided a revolution in mammalian biology,"

An article by Gretchen Vogel, published in the journal Science in October 2007 featured a comment about the discovery of knockout mice.  Raju Kicherlapati is a geneticist at Harvard University.

"[knockout mice] truly provided a revolution in mammalian biology... It is not an exaggeration to say that there is no mammalian biologist today who does not use these tools in one way or another"
