Policy on the Use of Animals in Medical and Veterinary Research - July 1993

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity which funds research into human and animal health with the aim of improving it in the future. Established in 1936, it is the UK's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research.

 

The Policy booklet was produced to provide general guidance to medical research council supported medical researchers using animals or animal products in their research. The guidance covers the legal position, the diversity of research involving animals, the ethical issues that arise, the principles and procedures adopted by the MRC.
