The Medical Research Council

Responsibility in the Use of Animals in Medical Research Guidance - July 1993

"there is extensive evidence from past work that properly controlled medical research involving animals, by adding to general understanding, will  prove relevant to increasing knowledge of human health in the future, as it has in the past".

The Medical Research Council (MRC) is a publicly-funded organisation dedicated to improving human health. The council supports research across the entire spectrum of medical sciences across  the UK.

The MRC’s mission, is to encourage and support research to improve human health, produce skilled researchers, advance knowledge and technology to improve the quality of life and economic competitiveness of the UK, and promote dialogue with the public about medical research.
